Role description & Responsibilities:
The Traffic Coordinator is responsible to order and schedule all outbound dedicated trucks. Obtains quotes for out-going loads with Carriers. Blocks and braces loads as needed for explosive shipments. Schedules outgoing LTL Carriers. Coordinates the SIR (Shipping Instruction Requests) with the Government. Prepares paperwork for out-going loads (Bill of Lading, Hazard Declarations and Government DD forms). Packages hazardous and non-hazardous and exported materials for shipment. This position also must attend a Hazardous Shipping Certification every two years to be qualified to ship hazardous materials.
Ensures property management accuracy of tooling coming into the plant and leaving the plant at Promontory.
Prepares commercial invoices and other documentation for exports including the freight forwarders. Reports exported items to AES and ACE.
Oversees the time delivery of materials, maintain schedules and track deliveries. Update and provide tracking information to customers as well as to managers. Maintains a good customer relationship with the customer, provides management with any information that needs addressed
Informs and provides solutions to management of issuess. DOT compliance, preventive maintenance, works with management concerning any issues with scheduling, tours, and compliance requirements. Fill in where needed (dispatch, answer phones, help with projects, etc.)
Dispatching, DOT compliance, preventive maintenance and new equipment acquisition ensure customer’s expectations are met, cost are controlled and equipment is well maintained and the appearance of our drivers, trucks, and trailers are up to our standards Knowledge of principles and methods for moving hazardous and non-hazardous materials. Knowledgeable of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies necessary to be compliant with effective local, state and national laws. - Knowledge of laws, EPA regulations, DOT regulations, and OSHA regulations, Hazmat certification.
Approves and processes orders office supplies, and request for productions materials, tooling, and hardware as necessities. Prepares and maintains purchasing logs and expense reports for department and other areas if needed.
Audit select carriers and other transportation methods, rates, and routes based on cost and performance.
Analyze delivery costs and recommended more cost effective methods of transportation, and investigate delivery issues. These may include damaged products and late or lost deliveries
Orders and schedule all outbound dedicated trucks
Coordinates regularly with our EICO on export shipments
Loads and unloads freight for receipt and shipping with various types of forklifts and other material handling equipment
Verifies correct markings for labeling using MIL standard requirements
Certifies the hazardous shipments for transportation on public highways
Candidatemust have a minimum of 4 yearsof Logistics, Tansportation experience
Candidate must have a functional knowledge ofMicrosoft Office, and proficient in Excel.
Knowledgeable of Hazardous shipping rules and regulations/ CFR 49.
Experience working with the Government and a working knowledge their forms and ofGovernment shipments
Skills & Qualifications:These are items that a candidate should have acquired through their experiences or education that they can demonstrate through the interview process. Again, reduce redundancies & keep to 5-10 (max!).
Experience in forklift operation
- Strong knowledge of CFR49/Hazardous shipping regulations
Strong skills in customer services and ability to plan and manage resources
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Detail oriented but able to understand the big picture
