Position Description:

Provide overall technical support for our LAP organization. Act as a Liaison Engineer to coordinate between ATK internal functional disciplines including Program Personnel, Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, LAP and Test. Create and publish all necessary documentation required to fulfill new program build requirements plus ensure all documentation is current and correct for all other builds.

Additional responsibilities include the support and completion of engineering projects within area of assigned responsibility. Ensures / reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and related specifications. Applies knowledge of engineering and scientific methods, theories and research techniques in the investigation and solution of technical problems.

Typical Duties:

Typical duties will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Coordinate or provide Engineering interface to support Supply Chain, LAP operations, and provide technical disposition on non-conforming product from internal and external sources

  • Provide Engineering disposition on tooling and gages specific to Orbital ATK product lines

  • Coordinate with Design and Project Engineering on design and/or manufacturability issues

  • Present Orbital ATK technical image and act as a technical point of contact

  • Provide and publish proper build documentation to support assigned programs

Essential Functions:

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Technical understanding of mechanical mechanisms, manufacturing processes, metal coatings, heat treatments and processing technologies and standard assembly processes.

  • Accountable for the successful completion of engineering projects.

  • Requires extensive regular contact with assigned project customers, both internal and external.

  • Assist in the preparation of engineering project proposals.

  • Budget monitoring and trend tracking.

  • Participating in customer meetings and resolving engineering and management project issues.

  • Ensure effective engineering and customer communications.

    Education/Experience:

  • BS degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent, and 0 to 5 years of experience with manufacturing of mechanical devices and automated systems.

  • Experience with robotics and PLC programming preferred

Required Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience in manufacturing and production of mechanical components and/or systems.

  • Demonstrated experience in fixture design.

  • Demonstrated experience in product design verification, inspection and non-conformance handling protocols.

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

  • Experience and proficiency in working with multiple projects.

  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Suite, including MS Project.
