The Orbital ATK Large Structures Center of Excellence inIuka, MSis looking for an experienced, highly motivatedProject Managerto join our team.

Roles and Responsibilities:

The Project Manager/Deputy Program Manager will be responsible for supporting the Program Manager in all aspects of cost, schedule and technical performance. PM/DPM roles and responsibilities include:

  • Assure that all aspects of the design and manufacturing processes are controlled and that qualified baselines are thoroughly managed including full traceability to the qualified baseline as Integrated Product Team (IPT) Leader

  • Generates and distributes agenda & minutes of IPT meetings with assigned actions

  • Assures timely and effective root cause investigation and corrective action implementation in support of MRB disposition

  • Ensures design and process changes (Tooling, Facilities, Software, Materials, Process Techniques and Flow) are reviewed for potential impacts and approved in a controlled manner as defined by the Program

  • Holds formal IPT meetings with sufficient frequency to ensure the IPT is functioning as an integrated team

  • Provide oversight to assure that manufacturing and material schedules conform to delivery requirements and implement corrective action for variances

  • Engage in the preparation of program-related meetings, proposals, business plans, work statements & specifications, operating budgets, and financial terms/conditions of contract

  • Engage in the preparation and execution of daily programmatic activities, as directed

  • Act as a customer contact for program activities, leading program review sessions with the customer to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance

  • Support establishment of milestones and monitors adherence to Integrated Master Plans and Schedules, identifies program problems and recommends solutions

  • Direct the work of employees assigned to the program from technical, development, and administrative areas

  • Coordinate staff planning and allocation with Functional Management organizations (e.g. Engineering Department)

  • Support routine status briefings for both Orbital ATK and internal/external customers.

  • Assist in the oversight of the earned value management system (EVMS) process, ensuring that input from CAMs is timely and accurate

  • Implement and maintain a robust, proactive Risk/Opportunity Management process

  • Support development of new business opportunities, or expands current lines of business with the customer


Required Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, you must meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, information systems, engineering, or related field

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in aerospace, defense or related manufacturing industry with progressive Project Management and/or Operations Management

  • Possess strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to work effectively in an environment with multiple, often conflicting requirements and priorities

  • Experience in organizational change, change management, staff realignment.

  • Possess a proven track record in using metrics to drive performance success on managed programs

  • Excellent external and internal communication and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in business, information systems, engineering or similar field

  • 2 years of experience as a Program Manager, Deputy Program Manager or Integrated Product Team (IPT) Leader for aerospace and/or composites manufacturing programs
