Orbital ATK is currently seeking an experiencedMission Assurance Engineer with mechanical engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, to join ourDefense Systems Group at our Independence, MO (Lake City) offices.
Role description & Responsibilities:
Specific duties to include but not limited to:
Develop and maintain inspection instructions and procedures for incoming product, specifically tooling and machine spare parts
Work closely with inspectors and engineering technicians to assure accurate, effective inspections are performed. Lead in the development of new inspection methods.
Understand and provide guidance in the application and use of automated inspection systems including CMM (Zeiss), Hommel, Mahr and Quest
Work with OA engineering to determine inspections are properly aligned with part application and value
Lead MRB activities when non-conforming parts are encountered. Team with engineering counterparts when investigating non-conforming/non-functional parts to determine root cause and corrective action.
Conduct on going IPT’s with select suppliers, manufacturing engineers and supply chain representatives to work issues and promote improvement efforts
Work closely with OA engineering counterparts to assure drawings/requirements accurately reflect intended purpose
Travel and perform supplier visits as required, and conduct periodic SPMP audits
Use OA enterprise CostPoint and TIP QA (raw materials inspection database) systems to process parts in various inspection statuses.
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related discipline.
Experience in a manufacturing environment preferably as a manufacturing engineer.
Experienced in reading and understanding government and OA drawings (specifically tooling and machine parts), and government and commercial specifications.
Familiar with ISO9001 Quality Management System.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Able to apply solid problem solving skills and root cause analysis.
Able to work independently with minimal oversight.
Strong computer skills with AutoCAD experience preferred.
