Orbital ATK is currently seeking aValue Stream Owner, Space (Director, Operations)to provide Operations and Engineering leadership and execution support to our Space Components Division team at our Goleta, CA site. TheValue Stream Owner, Deployables (Director, Operations)is accountable for complete operational and engineering execution from contract award through delivery to external and internal customers for the entire Deployables product lines.
Primary Responsibilities include:
Accountable to meet or exceed the safety, quality, delivery, employee and cost (SQDEC) expectations of external and internal customers across all Deployables products/programs. Ownership and accountability for effective hand-offs through all functional and process center areas. Own, execute and continuously improve Daily Management processes and communicate/escalate key issues to leadership and throughout the organization
Collaborate and coordinate with Master Scheduling, Product Value Streams, Process Centers, Functional Leaders (Mfg Eng, Quality, and Production Planning and Material Control) and Business Support Functions (Program Managers, Finance, Contracts, and HR) to achieve product and site goals via sharing of resources, tools, equipment, and processes.
Accountable to meet/under-run Deployables Manufacturing rates and manage OH/DLY. Own Deployables Operations and Engineering hiring, onboarding and training plan.
Prioritize Deployables Cap-Ex spending and ensure projects are continuously monitored and achieve performance/quality, delivery, and budget commitments.
Own Deployables Operations and Engineering resource management, escalation, prioritization, and conflict resolution decisions.
Strengthen the Operations and Engineering team through develop and deploy Operations and Engineering strategies and tactics to leadership team, coaching and personnel development, intense focus and ownership of leadership and employee development, and ensure discipline and continuous improvement of all process standards
Support customer proposals through delegation participation and approvals and ensure management team provides basis of estimates for labor and schedule durations
B.S. in Engineering or Business and a minimum of 10 years of combined Operations and Engineering Leadership experience, demonstrating an ability to lead, build and manage effective cross-functional teams. Prefer minimum of 2 years of experience also managing Operations functional leadership.
Requires a proven track record and passion and relentless drive for achieving engineering, manufacturing and operational results, financial results, and effective and timely decision making.
Requires root cause problem solving and continuous improvement skills.
Requires broad technical experience, preferably in Deployables products engineering and manufacturing.
Requires knowledge and experience with executing process standards focused on Deployables products value streams and risk management identification and mitigation.
Requires experience creating a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork
Requires experience interfacing with external customers and developing customer relationship
Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance is required.
Direct Report Information
- This position provides direct leadership to (2) Product Value Stream Leaders, (1) Process Center Leader, (1) Engineering Leader, and Ops Execution Functions (Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, Product Planning & Material Control Management, EHS and Security).
