ROLE DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Systems Engineer will play a key role in support of new and existing spacecraft development efforts within the Specialty Engineering group. Must be proficient in radiation effects and survivability engineering design and test methodologies required to field systems that are compatible with the natural space radiation environment. Projects will require experience in total ionizing dose, displacement damage dose, and single effects environments, including GCR and SEP Heavy Ion and Proton SEE rate prediction, as well as experience in parts and systems testing for TID, DDD, and SEE, across a broad spectrum of energies. Must have experience with charged particle environment model synthesis, radiation transport calculations, mitigation strategies for radiation effects, and radiation effects on EEE parts - direct test experience is preferred. Knowledge of non-ionizing radiation effects, particularly in the area of spacecraft charging, is desired. Knowledge of dose rate effects on components and systems is desired.
Create and manage system requirements, specifications and the requirements verification data base. Negotiate requirements with the customer. Plan the verification program. Perform System Analysis. Implement changes to system and subsystem architecture models and run existing models and simulations to assess system performance. Provide SE guidance to the team.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Requires BS in Engineering & 10 years or Masters in Engineering & 7 years or PhD in Engineering & 5 years.
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Physics or related field.
Active TS/TCI Clearance required.
Ability to work in a team environment, and travel occasionally (approx. 20%).
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present to customer community.
Ability to solve problems, analyze test results, drive tasks to completion.
Experience performing requirements flowdown through specifications.
Eperience writing and executing test procedures.
