The Launch Vehicles Division of Orbital ATK – located in Chandler, AZ - is currently seeking an Intern Systems Analyst/Developer to assist the Applications Development team with current applications development and application support projects. The team is chartered to design, implement, and maintain technical solutions - primarily in support of our Material Planning and Manufacturing Operations department.

The ideal candidate for this role will have direct exposure to either designing, developing, or supporting, custom application deployments coded in the Excel VBA for Applications language. Our applications are designed to provide intuitive and interactive user interfaces to manage database records via optimized data transactions, in support of daily manufacturing, forecasting, and business processes. We are constantly looking to re-design or build new solutions to streamline heritage Orbital ATK application sets that may reside in various shared Excel workbooks, Microsoft Access databases, or other system platforms.

To achieve an optimized database records management environment, we integrate and administer our own central Microsoft SQL Server instances. As our newest suite of application deployments grow we are in search of a self-starter who has the technical acumen to troubleshoot and support issues as they arise. The candidate will work closely with our current development leads to help with documentation, version control, data records research and analysis, and to manage or organize enhancement requests.

Education/Certifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or related field.

Required Skills:

  • Some demonstrated ability to write Visual Basic code in Microsoft VBA for Applications.

  • Some experience with relational databases (MS Access, SQL Server, MySQL).

  • Good analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Ability to work constructively in a team environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines; proactive in identifying and addressing issues as they arise

  • Disciplined approach to code/application documentation and version control

  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills

Preferred Skills – Experience in any of the following areas would be helpful:

  • Experience writing moderately complex SQL queries or Stored Procedures.

  • Exposure to Visual Studio.

  • Experience in developing transaction-based Web sites.

  • SharePoint site administration or development experience.

  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
