During these internships, a major project will be assigned and/or many discrete opportunities will be available. In many cases, internships serve as a potential stepping stone to full time employment.

Orbital ATK is currently looking to fill an intern position to support our Aircraft Value Stream team in the San Diego, California facility of our Space Components Division, which specializes in space deployables such as solar arrays and instrument booms. While working as a summer intern for Orbital ATK – San Diego you will be given the opportunity to learn/strengthen the following skills in a professional environment.

Our San Diego location is looking for an Aircraft Value Stream Intern:

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the development of the TPM program across all major pieces of equipment utilizing the Express Maintenance Software. This will also include a comprehensive list of required materials and suggested spare parts.

  • Develop and implement a barcode system that will be tied to each piece of equipment so that real time TPM/PM updates can be made via a smart device. This will push the level of ownership of maintenance down to the user level freeing up time for Facilities to focus more on mechanical and building maintenance. A robust TPM process will extend the life of the equipment and mitigate risk of equipment failure.

  • Develop and implement Express Request

  • Support MES Implementation- Scope to be defined

  • Work with CI Manufacturing Engineer and site Lean person to develop a more efficient and lean way to package and store products for Aircraft production programs.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • College senior pursuing a degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or Operations/Supply Chain Management. Strong candidates for this position will possess many of the following attributes:

  • Proven multi-tasker and self-starter

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
