Orbital ATK employs students from a variety of disciplines, including technical and engineering fields. College students may receive hands-on projects involved with such areas as the design, build and support work on space systems that support scientific missions to study near-earth and other space environments, and to advance new technologies. During these internships, a major project will be assigned and/or many discrete opportunities will be available. In many cases, internships serve as a potential stepping stone to full time employment.

Orbital ATK is currently looking to fill an intern position to support our Business Development & Marketing Department in the Commerce, California facility of our Space Components Division, which specializes in space deployables such as solar arrays and instrument booms. While working as a summer intern for Orbital ATK – Commerce you will be given the opportunity to learn/strengthen the following skills in a professional environment:

As anEngineering Internin a high tech business development function, you will assist with execution of the Commerce growth Strategic Deployment Plan (SDP) actions including but not limited to:

  • Update web site data sheets containing technical specifications

  • Prepare Summaries:

  • Propellant Management Device (PMD) tank summary for PMD tanks

  • Diaphragm tank summary for diaphragm tank proposals

  • Composite Overwrapped Pressure Vessel (COPV) summary for COPV proposals

  • Each includes charts and excel spreadsheet data.

  • Other tasks as assigned.

Desired Experience/Skills:

Currently Enrolled College Student - preparing to enter their Senior year, pursuing anEngineering degree. Strong candidates for this position will possess many of the following attributes:

  • High energy level, willing to perform a multitude of tasks, while identifying opportunities to develop/improve existing processes

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint,

  • Technical attention to detail

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong, proven organizational skills in managing time, projects and resources

  • Experience and success in working within teams

  • Proven ability to multi-task and a self-starter able to work independently

  • Strong interpersonal skills to drive actions necessary to accomplish assigned tasks

Most positions will be filled as a 12-week internship (typically from mid to late May until mid to late August 2016).
